Living Waters Village, Borneo
Living Waters Village in West Kalimantan, Borneo is now the base for Ronny and Kay Heyboer and a large number of orphans and displaced children. Assisting Ronny and Kay in this huge project are Ben and Rachel Brooks, a missionary couple from America.
The Training Centre at Living Waters Village is now complete ands will be used for familiarising children with life at the site including sleeping on a mattress, using the toilets and showers, helping with daily chores and living as part of a community. Many of the children from the house in Sintang have moved to the site. Work is continuing on the school buildings which Ronny hopes to have at least partly functional by the end of the summer (2006).
The local builders are also continuing to build some staff houses which were designed and started by the team from Whiteknights. Ronny is planning to build 25 orphanage houses. Some of the funding is already in place for these and a clinic.
There are 8km of roads on site which will need to be surfaced. Some of this surfacing work is becoming increasingly important because the roads become impassable in some places when it rains.
At Living Waters Village there are 40 local builders progressing the building work. There are also a dozen or so older girls who do all the cooking and look after the house. There is also a team of lads who work in the gardens growing fruit and vegetables and several other lads who have been through the system and are now helping with the project.
